Tomato prices in Uzbekistan have stabilized

In early November, EastFruit wrote about record-high prices for tomatoes in Uzbekistan. As of November 4, 2022, tomato prices were at the highest level, and wholesale prices were 61% higher than in neighboring Tajikistan and 1.5 times higher than in Georgia and Moldova. What’s more, the difference between the prices for tomatoes in Uzbekistan and in the Russian market, which is the main market for fresh Uzbek tomatoes, disappeared at that time. Although traders expected further price growth, EastFruit analysts forecasted a slowdown in growth or even price stabilization. In the next three weeks, the average wholesale price for rose tomatoes increased by only 5% and stabilized at this level, while the average wholesale price for red round tomatoes even decreased by 7%.
