Uzbekistan is experiencing record-high tomato prices, with wholesale prices rising to their highest level in November 2022. These prices are significantly higher than in neighboring countries like Tajikistan, Georgia, and Moldova. However, the price difference with the Russian market, a key market for Uzbek tomatoes, has disappeared. Despite traders' expectations of further price growth, analysts from EastFruit predict a slowdown or stabilization of these high prices. Specifically, the average wholesale price for rose tomatoes has seen a slight increase of 5% in the past three weeks, reaching 20,000 UZS/kg ($1.78), which is 11% higher than last year. Conversely, the average wholesale price for red round tomatoes has decreased by 7% to 13,000 UZS/kg ($1.16), matching last year's price.
