Brazil: Tomato supply reduces in December

In December, the second part of the winter tomato crop lost momentum, and the harvest for the 2022/23 summer season began to intensify, but still slowly. The expectation is that the number of tomatoes harvested in summer squares will reach a peak between January and February 2023. The offer remains smaller compared to what happened during the second half, and therefore, prices rose compared to November, remaining above production costs. Among the winter troops that harvested in December, only Paty do Alferes (RJ) should continue with activities until the beginning of 2023, but already almost ending the harvest. Sumaré (SP) and Araguari (MG) had already closed the harvest in the first fortnight, and if there was any offer in the second, the volume was not expressive.
