Tomato yield is high this season in Kilis, Turkey

An important income source of Kilis, whose agriculture-based economy is developing day by day, 90 thousand tons of harvest is expected this year. In the city, where many products, especially olives, grapes and peppers, are grown, farmers harvest tomatoes. Last year, 63 thousand tons of tomatoes were produced with an average yield of 7 tons per decare on an area of approximately 9 thousand decares in the city. This year, the harvest is estimated to be 90 thousand tons. The collected tomatoes are taken to the surrounding provinces by trucks as well as being sold in the city. Güven Özdemir, President of Kilis Chamber of Agricultural Engineers, told Anadolu Agency (AA) that the farmers who grow tomatoes are happy with the yield they have achieved this season.
