The northern hemisphere produces 17 million tonnes of global processed tomatoes

Northern Hemisphere surpasses 17 million tonnes of processed tomatoes despite mixed weather conditions. On 4 October, the World Processing Tomato Council (WPTC) released its update on the Northern Hemisphere processing tomato harvest. The latest figures show overall production exceeding 17 million tonnes, although the season was marked by varied weather conditions across regions, affecting yields in some countries. In France, around 150,000 tonnes of tomatoes were processed, but results differed between regions. In the south-east, 90% of contractual targets were met, while the south-west was only able to achieve two-thirds of the forecast due to heavy rainfall throughout the season. Total production for France is expected to be between 165,000 and 170,000 tonnes. In Greece, weather conditions were more favourable, allowing for the processing of around 510,000 tonnes of tomatoes.
