Trout farmed at the Çekerek Dam in Yozgat, Turkey, are raised and then sent to the Black Sea to mature before being exported to 36 countries as Turkish salmon. Approximately 1,300 tons of the produced trout are exported annually, with 14 enterprises raising 2,000 tons per year in 90 cages. Adnan Yılmaz, who started fishing in 2015, stated that the quality of the water at the dam and the net cage system contribute to the unique taste and flavor of the Turkish salmon, positioning it as a competitor to Norwegian salmon.
