The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) has reported a 10% increase in the UK's beef and veal production in October compared to the previous month and the same period last year. This increase was due to a 7% rise in the slaughter of prime cattle and a 20% rise in the slaughter of cows compared to September. Despite this, the average prime cattle carcass weights were lower than both the previous year and the five-year average. For the first ten months of the year, the UK's beef production stood at 747,500 tons, showing a 1% increase year-on-year.
