In the 2024/25 season, Ukrainian gardeners faced a new wave of challenges. Spring frosts significantly reduced the apple harvest, and attacks on energy infrastructure complicated storage and logistics, reports "ProAgro Group."
This led to domestic apple prices becoming so high that most producers lost motivation to export. Moreover, in April-June of this year, Ukraine imported apples from Poland, which is an atypical occurrence for the market.
Currently, prices for new-season apples in Ukraine are almost three times higher than last season, which has disappointed consumers. At the same time, this may stimulate the resumption of exports if external markets remain solvent.
Despite the decrease in production, the high demand for apple concentrate supports prices for fresh apples. Ukrainian farmers can take advantage of the price trend, but the domestic market will remain in a high-price zone.
