In the first eight months of 2022, Ukraine experienced a significant shift in its agricultural imports, with vegetables becoming a notable part of its agricultural imports for the first time in five years, contributing to 7% of the total agricultural imports' value. The vegetable imports volume increased by 43% from the previous year, reaching $263 million, primarily due to the impact of Russia's aggression, leading to a decrease in domestic vegetable production. The main vegetable suppliers to Ukraine were Turkey and Poland, contributing to 57.1% of the total imports, with tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and garlic being the most imported vegetables. Overall, these five countries accounted for 81% of the total value of the imported agricultural products.
