Uruguay's dairy sector has experienced notable changes, with a notable rise in dairy cow slaughters in the first half of 2024, marking the highest volume since 2021, as indicated by the National Milk Institute (INALE). This period saw a 2.3% increase compared to the same period in the previous year, with a total of 33,294 dairy cows slaughtered. Despite the increase in slaughters, there has been a minor growth in the country's dairy herds, according to the National Livestock Information System.
