The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has granted contracts worth USD 32.5 million to various U.S. Gulf of Mexico wild shrimp suppliers to help alleviate the pressure on Louisiana's shrimp industry. The industry has been affected by natural disasters, increased fuel prices, labor and supply chain issues, and the influx of illegally caught, foreign, farmed seafood. The largest contract of USD 15.1 million for 385,000 cases of peeled and deveined shrimp was awarded to Paul Piazza & Son. Other recipients include Lafitte Frozen Foods Corp., Ocean Select Seafood, C.F. Gollott and Son Seafood, Dulcich Inc., Gulf Pride Enterprises, Sea Pearl Seafood, and Tommy’s Seafood.
