The USDA forecasts a slight increase in global sugar production for the 2024/25 campaign, reaching 186.6 million tons, with the rise primarily driven by higher production in China, India, and Thailand, which compensates for the decrease in Brazil. India's demand is expected to hit a record 179.6 million tons, driven by increased consumption. Brazil's production is predicted to drop by 2.5 million tons due to adverse weather conditions, although it will still achieve the second-largest volume in the country's history. In the European Union, sugar production is anticipated to rise to 15.6 million tonnes, attributed to an increase in beet cultivation, despite a projected decline in imports and a slight decrease in exports.
