In Bac Giang province, Vietnam's main lychee-producing region, the harvest season is ending with prices in Luc Ngan District soaring to five times those in 2023, yet demand remains strong. In Ho Chi Minh City, grade 1 lychees are priced at around 145,000 Vietnamese dong ($5.70) per kilogram, with retail prices reaching up to 210,000 dong ($8.26) per kilogram. Despite high prices, demand exceeds supply. The lychee harvest in northern Vietnam is nearly over, with Luc Ngan seeing daily rising wholesale prices. This year's lychee production in Bac Giang is 85,600 metric tons, less than half of previous years, with 60,900 metric tons consumed domestically and 24,700 metric tons exported, mainly to China. However, exports to China are over 70% lower than last year.
