In 2020, the US imported 728,920 tons of mangoes, valued at $916 million, marking an 11.5% increase in volume and a 12% increase in value from the previous year. Mexico was the leading supplier, accounting for 59.7% of total mango imports to the US. However, there was a notable rise in mango imports from Vietnam, which increased by 66% in volume and over 70% in value, despite making up only 0.3% of the total mango volume imported. The US imported mainly fresh mangoes from Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, and Brazil, while Vietnam dominated the market for frozen mangoes, with a 54.76% share of total mango imports from the country. The Import and Export Department of Vietnam urges Vietnamese exporters to expand their product range, focusing on processed mangoes and mango juice to capitalize on the growing demand in the US, especially amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
