VietGAP standard watermelon variety has brought revenue of over 100 million VND/ha for Nghi Xuan farmers in Ha Tinh, Vietnam. The new variety has a higher yield and quality than the previous one, with an average yield of over 30 tons/ha and selling price of 12,000 VND/kg. The trial planting of 4.76 hectares in Hong Phu Agricultural Cooperative resulted in a yield of over 150 tons with an estimated income of over 100 million VND/ha, which is 10-15% higher than the old variety produced by traditional methods. The cooperative plans to expand production with the hope of connecting with businesses to support product consumption in the future.
