Damian Murgatroyd of The Blind Pig Speakeasy, St Helier, Jersey, won the British Isles leg of Graham’s Blend Series Cocktail Competition, judged at Da Terra. His Graham’s Kitchen Flip (Graham’s Blend No.12) was a liquid homage to the kitchen at Graham’s Port Lodge – built with chestnut butter-washed Douro brandy, caramelised apple cordial, and smoked chocolate bitters. A reworking of the classic flip, he called it “an old school drink, from my old school bar, in homage to an old school region”. The Grand Cercle des Vins de Bordeaux held its annual en primeur tasting in London, the first under its new president, Philippe de Poyferré.
