In 2022, Wales saw a significant growth in its lamb and beef exports, reaching a value of £250 million, as per analysis of HM Revenue and Customs trade data. Welsh lamb exports, worth £171.5 million, experienced an increase in their largest European markets, France, Germany, and Belgium. Beef exports also surged by nearly 50%, generating £75.6 million. This growth in red meat exports, particularly to the Middle East, is seen as vital amidst declining domestic demand in the UK and rising cost-of-living expenses.
