The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) in Ghana has clarified that it has not approved the commercial use of 14 maize and soya bean products as seeds, despite their registration by the National Biosafety Authority for use in food, feed, and industrial applications. These products have not passed the National Variety Release and Registration Committee of the National Seed Council's approval process for commercial seeding. MoFA is dedicated to overseeing the use of these products and encourages stakeholders, including commercial and small-scale farmers, to utilize only approved seed varieties to maintain agricultural integrity and protect the welfare of farmers and consumers.
