The European Union has imposed tariffs on certain imports from the United States, including fresh fruits and vegetables, in response to tariffs imposed by the US in October 2019. The tariffs, which came into effect on Tuesday, include additional duties of 15% and 25% depending on the products. The EU is a minority supplier to the US market and vice versa, with community fruit and vegetable imports from the US in 2019 being 101 million euros, and exports to the US being 230 million euros in the same year.
