In April 2024, Chile saw a significant increase in wine exports, with a 51.6% rise in volume and a 36.2% increase in value compared to April 2023, amounting to 71.8 million liters and USD 142 million FOB respectively. The increase was evident across various categories, including wines with Designation of Origin, bulk wine, and wines in containers of different sizes. From January to April 2024, there was an overall growth of 18.9% in volume and 10.7% in value in exports compared to the previous year. However, the cultivated surface area for winemaking slightly decreased by 0.8% in the 2022 National Wine Registry, with red varieties covering 73.63% and white varieties 26.37% of the surface area. The largest planted area was for Cabernet-Sauvignon. The wine stock report for December 31, 2023, showed a 6.2% increase in stock compared to the previous year, reaching 1,501.1 million liters. Conversely, the wine production report for 2023 revealed a decrease of 11.4% in total wine production, reaching 1,103 million liters.
