With regulatory changes, modifications are being introduced to the requirements for humane treatment in the raising of laying hens.

An ordinance amending and supplementing Ordinance No. 25 of 2005 on the minimum requirements for humane treatment in the breeding of laying hens has been published in the State Gazette. The proposed changes aim to update the current provisions in line with modern poultry farming practices and the requirements of European legislation. Requirements for the microclimate parameters in the premises where laying hens are kept are introduced. It is proposed to eliminate the regulatory temperature range of 15 to 25°C, and instead, the temperature should be maintained according to the physiological characteristics of the birds. The change takes into account the changing climatic conditions and the practice in most European Union member states. Requirements for artificial ventilation and lighting in animal housing facilities are also updated. New requirements for the yards adjoining the premises for free-range laying hens are included.
