In W21 in the peanut landscape, authorities in Tanzania emphasized the importance of involving farmers in studies to develop better peanut seeds to increase crop yields. Peanut production has been steadily increasing, and the demand for peanuts for edible oil manufacturing has prompted researchers to collaborate with farmers to identify suitable seeds for different regions. Farmers in Tabora, Katavi, Kigoma, Geita, Mara, Mwanza, and Shinyanga have been provided with experimental seeds, allowing researchers to assess their compatibility with various soil types and weather conditions. The collaborative studies help researchers improve seed quality, resistance to pests and diseases, and market suitability. The distribution of improved seeds has motivated farmers to increase production, contributing to domestic consumption and income generation. The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has announced the Emergency Agricultural Sector Recovery Program, estimated at USD 1B. The program aims to revitalize agricultural production and enhance food security to prevent shortages, focusing on 12 staple crops, such as peanuts, maize, rice, wheat, sorghum, cassava, potato, sweet potato, bean, cowpea, soybean, and banana. The agricultural sector in the DRC contributes 19% to the country's GDP and employs approximately 55% of the working population.

On the other hand, the municipality of Şahinbey, Turkey, distributed various plants such as peanuts, tomatoes, peppers, aubergines, melons, watermelons, cucumbers, wheat, barley, and olive trees to support local farmers. As part of an initiative to promote sustainability in agriculture, farmers in the earthquake-affected Şahinbey district of Gaziantep province in southern Turkey have received 11.5M seedlings. Lastly, North and South Carolina are among the leading peanut-producing states of the United States. During 2022, North Carolina harvested 116K acres of peanuts, while South Carolina harvested 68K acres. According to the USDA, the top peanut-producing states are Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas. The total peanut crop for 2022 was estimated at 5.57B pounds. Planting intentions for peanuts in North Carolina for 2023 increased by 11% compared to 2022, with 130K acres. Nationwide, peanut planting intentions are up 7% from 2022, totaling 1.547M acres. Demand for in-shell peanuts, particularly those produced in the Carolinas, has seen a 9.5% increase from August 2022 to March 2023, indicating a rise in demand alongside increased production.
