Canada flax continues to feel pressure from Kazakhstan

Statistics Canada has predicted a similar amount of flax acres planted in 2020-21 as were planted in 2019-20 with a slightly higher yield. Kazakhstan, who has emerged as a strong producer and is biting into Canada's sales in the EU, is also expected to increase production in 2020. Canadian producers will need to see continued strong demand from the US or else prices decreases are likely.
