Wholesaler price of lemon increased to 6.5 USD per kg whereas the price of ginger rose to 26.2 USD per kg. Russia had imported 221 kmt of lemon in 2019 with 45 % of the imports coming from Turkey. However, with the export ban on lemon in Turkey in effect since the end of March, Turkish lemon exports to Russia came to a full stop which may have also been a factor in the price increase.

Similarly, lemon prices also rose in Ukraine, which imports approximately 40 kmt of lemons annually from Turkey. Currently, lemon prices increased from 3 USD per kg to 4 USD per kg at wholesalers in Ukraine.
