Indian ginger production has been comparatively very low this season (2019-20) compared to the previous 3 years. Ginger mostly comes from the northeastern states of Assam and Tripura. Due to heavy floods and landslides in northeastern India in October-November-December, a good portion of the standing crops got destroyed, resulting in lower harvest and supply, resulting in a rise in prices.
