108MT of Cocoa Beans Sold at First Auction for the 2023 Season Held in Mbeya Region, Tanzania

During the first actions conducted by KYECU (Kyela District Cooperative Union) in February 2023, 108MT of cocoa beans were sold with the highest bidding price of USD 2.25/kg and the lowest bid price of USD 2.22/kg. The government has set the season price at USD 1.79/kg through the warehouse receipt systems and auctions. The Kyela and Rungwe districts account for 90% of all cocoa beans produced in Tanzania. Annually the cocoa season in the Mbeya region goes into full production in April and ends in October. The next auction sis expected to be held in mid-march.
