Chile's 2023 Year-End Report Revealed Growth in Atlantic Salmon Harvests, Decline in Trout, and Surge in Pacific Salmon

According to the latest Sector Report prepared by the Undersecretary of Fisheries of Chile (Subpesca), the total harvests of Chilean salmon and trout accumulated as of Dec-23 were 1,080,879 metric tons (mt), a figure 3.5% year-on-year (YoY) higher. During the same period, the accumulated harvest of Atlantic salmon was 776,591 mt, up 2.7% YoY. In the case of trout, the accumulated harvest as of Dec-23 was 50,430 mt, 30.4% YoY less. Meanwhile, the accumulated harvest for Pacific salmon (Coho) was 253,858 mt, up 17.7% YoY.
