In 2023, Vietnam exported 121,000 tons of tea leaves, generating approximately USD 211 million in revenue. This marked a 17% year-over-year (YoY) decline in volume and an 11% YoY decrease in value. According to Vietnam Customs, this performance represents the weakest export result in the past seven years.

The average price of Vietnamese tea leaves in 2023 was USD 1.73 thousand per ton, a 7% YoY increase. However, this price only reached 67% of the global average, USD 2.6 thousand per ton. The primary contributing factor to this lower selling price is Vietnam's historical practice of exporting tea leaves in their raw form.
