Polish Farmers Keep Grain in Storage, Waiting For Higher Prices As There is Low Supply of Grain in the Market

According to the Grain and Feed Chamber, Polish grain prices are influenced by the relatively low supply in the market, and most farmers still store grain in warehouses, waiting for higher prices. For the 2022 corn harvest, most of Poland's regions are still in the early stages, and the yield is predicted to be 9–12 MT/ha lower than it was in 2021. Corn has a high moisture content, ranging from 36-38%, requiring farmers to wait for the corn to dry. Although the last sunny days have allowed the kernels to dry up, the drying process is delayed by rain, thus delaying the overall season. As for the cereal exports in September 2022, total exports by sea from Poland amounted to approximately 305,000 MT, a 30% drop MoM compared to the 440,000 MT exported in August, and a 42% drop YoY compared to the 529,000 MT exported in September 2021. In October this year, wheat exports through ports will be higher than expected earlier and will exceed 200,000 MT.
