Some Egyptian citrus fruit buyers in Ghana have expressed their preference for citrus products from smallholder Egyptian farmers because they offer prices that are about 30% cheaper compared to what large-scale farmers offer due to controlled price mechanisms. For instance, a citrus product such as an orange which costs USD 750/MT, CFR from a large-scale supplier may cost about USD 500/MT, CFR from a smallholder farmer from Egypt while fruit may be of the same quality.
