The Thailand Rice Exporters Association has reported that Thailand exported 600 thousand to 700 thousand tons of rice in August. Increased demand from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Middle East, and Africa, driven by global rice supply concerns exacerbated by India's export ban and the El Niño's impact on rice output, has led to this export surge. As of September 6th, Thai white rice 5% stood at USD 640 per metric ton (mt), Thai Hommali rice at USD 1,041/mt, and white glutinous rice at USD 985/mt.
