Fresh Atlantic Salmon Dominates Chilean Salmon Exports to Brazil, with Coho Salmon on the Rise in 2023

In Brazil, Chilean salmon exports predominantly consist of fresh Atlantic salmon, accounting for 97% of sales in the first half of 2023, up from 95% in 2022. Notably, coho salmon exports have increased, reaching 10% in the same period. While whole fish is the preferred format for restaurants, portions, and fillets are more popular at the retail level, particularly in supermarkets, catering to consumers seeking both freshness and convenience. In 2022, Chilean salmon exports to Brazil totaled 100.82 thousand net tons, marking a 49% growth in the past decade, with revenues of USD 804 million.
