Ethiopia has entered the new 2022 coffee harvest season in the South Western coffee region. The cherry price has increased by nearly 12% from the start of season price of USD 0.76/kg to USD 0.85/kg in W39. This upward price trend will benefit farmers in the short term, but will drive up the price of green coffee beans, which will have an impact on market players down the supply chain. This will especially affect suppliers who are experiencing liquidity shortages in 2022.
