Indonesian pepper consumption rises during the end of the year

Contrary to rather quiet export activities, demand for Indonesia black pepper in domestic market has risen once more following festive season with restaurants, hotels, supermarkets leading the trend. Food prices, both on basic and secondary staples have been steadily increasing even though the distributors and retailers are more optimistic that Q1 2022 will see more consumption. Absence of stricter policies on travel and withdrawal of restrictions from government has been helping malls, hotels, restaurants to receive more visitors.

On the other hand, white pepper, which has retained stable consumption as one of 'must-have' ingredients for local cuisines, helped by abundance factor and existence of lower 'mixed quality'.
