Javanesse cold storages start selling fish stocks during the West Wind periods called ‘BARATAN’

Frozen seafood has become the solution to the lack of fresh seafood for more than 2 decades in Indonesia. During Muson season, fishers took subsequent breaks from fishing activities. This West Wind, namely ‘Baratan,’ had put fierce risks for most fishermen in Java's northern and southern side. The reduction of fishing activities in several areas across Indonesia has led to the declining number of fish caught for the daily wet market in most parts of Java.

Running out of fresh fish stocks, local consumers are forced to choose and buy any available frozen seafood replacing the usual fresh fish ingredients (especially local dish, called Pindangan). Many traders and factories state that frozen seafood sales have been boosted significantly during the inclement.
