Kenyan cassava processors are quoting USD 0.57/kg (Ksh. 70) of dried cassava in W51, an increase from USD 0.28- 0.33/kg (Ksh. 35-40) in early 2022. The price of raw cassava jumped from USD 0.03/kg (Ksh. 4) to USD 0.08/kg (Ksh. 10), up by 150% over the same period affecting their production costs. They also attribute the high cassava prices to the wheat and maize flour prices that have remained high in the domestic market, forcing people to seek alternative flours.
