The chia season is in a stage of low supply and price speculation. Regardless of the significant loss due to frost in the last harvest, this season is characteristic of having the last remnants, and tiny seed availability, until the harvest that ends in June.
Spot purchases are already very scarce, and some farmers dedicated to keeping and hiding their chia now come out to offer and speculate on prices.
Our supplier estimates that approximately 5% will be available from the last harvest. Although this speech is often used as a sales strategy, today's reality is that there is very little chia available at reasonable prices.
It is still possible to find chia, but most exporters do not have it in stock but must negotiate with the farmers and buy at a higher price and then process them in their plants.
