Market Trend in Europe for Sea Bream and Sea Bass in Early 2024

In early 2024, the European sea bass and sea bream market remained stable amidst moderate demand. Spain saw high volumes, exceeding 900 metric tons (mt) for Sea Bass and over 800 mt for Sea Bream. Notably, Sea Bass prices have surged, particularly for small and medium-sized fish, reaching USD 6.50/kg and 6.87/kg in the Spanish market. In Italy, prices in Feb-24 increased by 20% to 25% month-over-month (MoM) compared to Jan-24, ranging between USD 7.09 and 8.61/kg. Conversely, prices for small and large sizes of Sea Bream have remained unchanged. For medium-sized Sea Bream of Greek origin, the price in Feb-24 stood at USD 8.45/kg, representing a significant decline compared to Q4-23, when it was USD 9.38/kg.
