In Jul-24, mussel prices in Italy dropped by 16.67% month-on-month (MoM), averaging around USD 2.74 per kilogram (kg), down from nearly USD 3.29/kg during the spring. This decrease is due to the increased availability of mussels, resulting from favorable weather conditions and a productive season. Year-on-year, the price fell by about 17%, benefiting consumers with more affordable prices. Despite the price drop, demand remains high during the summer months, driven by tourism and domestic consumption, maintaining stable prices in the seafood sector overall.
