While there was a lockdown on the Myanmar-China border at the peak of the COVID pandemic, the potato price in Myanmar increased significantly. However, when the border started opening last week, the imported Chinese potatoes entered the Myanmar market at low prices. The Chinese potatoes are priced at only MMK 450 per viss. Thus the Myanmar potatoes price has decreased from MMK 700 to MMK 550 within a week.
