Panettone and Pandoro, the traditional Christmas cakes from Italy, anticipate excellent export performances in 2022, with a spike in demand anticipated for the upcoming weeks. Sales of panettone are anticipated to exceed 50M pieces in 2022, along with an increase of 19.5% YoY in total revenue. Among non-European countries, the US is the leading export destination, but interest from China and the Middle East is also rising. Among European countries, France is the leading importer, representing more than 20% of the total imports at USD 134.58M. Germany comes in second with USD 113.88M, and the United Kingdom comes in third with USD 62.12M.
