In mid-Dec-23, the South African white seedless grapes appeared early in the Ho Chi Minh City market, Vietnam, defying the usual timeline that sees them available after mid-January. In W51, South African white seedless grapes prices stood at USD 5.7 per kilogram (kg).

The South African Table Grape Industry (SATI) anticipates a 12% year-over-year (YoY) growth in export volume for this season. This is particularly significant given the challenges faced by Peruvian grapes, which experienced low production and poor quality this season. The early availability and increased export volume of South African grapes are expected to contribute positively to the Vietnamese market, helping avoid a potential shortage during the peak consumption season.
