On December 8, 2023, Thai longans exported to China reached approximately 274 thousand metric tons (mt), valued at about USD 305 million. Conversely, the statistics for the corresponding period in 2022 revealed a considerable decline, with approximately 470.6 thousand mt accounting for a value of USD 494 million. This reduction is likely attributed to the high selling prices of longans within the local Thai markets during 2023. Additionally, the increased production capacity of canned longan factories has provided more options for farmers to sell their crops, with domestic sales being less stringent than exports.
