The Paraguayan beekeeper union is currently working to obtain permission from the Secretary of Agriculture and Livestock of Paraguay (SENACSA) to have an official permit to enable honey exports. A traceability system and analysis certifications will be required to enable exports. The German and Paraguayan government have started to cooperate to set up the system, but the process is expected to take 3 years. A unified brand among honey producers is being discussed in order to fill a container for 2 to 3 month cycle shipments. The comparative advantage of Paraguayan honey is that it is wild-produced, pesticide-free, 99% multi-floral. However, there is a limited volume available.
