Vietnam has experienced a significant rise in coconut prices since early Apr-24, reaching USD 0.51 (VND 13,000). This increase is attributed to heightened demand during hot weather conditions. The scorching temperatures, particularly prevalent in coconut-producing regions such as Ben Tre Province, have driven up demand for fresh coconut juice. As a result, there have been almost daily price increases in Ben Tre Province, with farmers benefiting from profit margins of USD 0.12 to 0.20 per coconut (VND 3,000 to 5,000 per coconut). Retailers have noted a 50% increase in coconut juice demand, while the potential for Vietnamese coconut exports to China has also contributed to the price surge.
