In the 2023/24 season, there is speculation that cashew nut prices in Tanzania will decrease in upcoming auctions. This is due to the government's encouragement of internal processing of the kernels and logistical issues affecting exports. The current use of the Mtwara port is facing challenges with a shortage of vessels and containers, causing further delays in delivery. Despite Dar Es Salaam port being the largest and most utilized, the government has designated it for exporting Raw Cashew Nut (RCN) this season. The government is expected to focus on processing RCN domestically and exporting it as a final product to enhance income and establish Tanzania as the country of origin in the international market.
