Persistence of High Thai Rice Prices in W34 Amid Indian Export Ban and Drought Conditions

Due to the recent Indian rice export ban and the impact of drought conditions, the price of Thai rice has remained elevated during W34, albeit with a slight decrease compared to W33. As of August 16th, Jasmine rice stood at USD 796/metric ton (mt) in the market. Glutinous rice is priced at USD 956/mt, while 5% broken white rice is priced at USD 612/mt. Furthermore, premium quality Thai Hom Mali rice is available at USD 1,041/mt.
