The campaign of the Osteen variety mango, which accounts for 70% of the total mango production of the Spanish mango campaign, has now concluded. Farmers were paid an average of USD 0.73/kg for the 2022 season, which is USD 0.20/kg less than in 2021 due to the high percentage of category II small-sized mangos. This, together with the increase in production costs, has generated discomfort among farmers and could lead to mango plantations shifting to other profitable crops by 2023. Currently, the Keitt variety mango is beginning to be marketed and will be present for approximately three weeks. The campaign is forecasted to end in mid-November, two weeks earlier than usual due to the high temperatures that have generally advanced the harvests throughout the campaign of the different varieties. The Keitt variety is characterised by its large size, with the 6/7/8 sizes being the most widely available. In W42, the Keitt price is around USD 1.61/kg EXW Spain, packed in 4-kg boxes.
