In 2022, Argentina exported 140% more dry peas compared to 2021, a record high in the last 9 years. The exported volume is around 140,000MT sent to 34 destinations, with the main destinations being Venezuela (51%), China (15%), and Brazil (10%). The increase in exports is due to high production volumes and favourable conditions on the international market. For the 2021/22 campaign, local production was 297,000MT, 53% more than the 2020/21 campaign, while the US was not as prosperous. Furthermore, the war between Russia and Ukraine, the two main dry peas world suppliers after Canada and the US has made Argentina a relevant supplier.
