The black pepper trees have been cut down in Muheza, Tanzania, to produce Cocoa instead due to low revenue generation. From 2019 to today, the price of black pepper has dropped from USD 4.31/kg to USD 1.5/kg. Producers expect to benefit from prompt payments and lucrative returns from cocoa farms.
