The Brazilian state of Bahia, the second largest cotton producer with a 25% share and also the one with the highest cotton yield per ha in the country, has already closed 50% of pre-sales of the 20/21 season, of which sowing is just about to begin.
This year, a total area of 265 thousand hectares is reserved for cotton sowing, 15% below the previous season. Harvesting stage will begin in June. Most of the seeds should be sold domestically, while 60% of the lint should be exported to Asian countries, where the global clothing industry clusters are located.
